1. Overview

Permission Explorer & Manager is a Forge-based Confluence Cloud space app that gives space admins a clear, actionable view of page-level restrictions across an entire space, for any user or group.

1.1 What it does

When you open Permission Explorer & Manager from the space sidebar and run a scan, it:

  • Scans all pages in the current space and builds a structured permissions report.

  • Reviews whether the selected user or group has view and edit access on each page

  • Shows other viewers and editors who have explicit restrictions set

  • Lets you filter results by access type

  • Allows you to grant or remove view and edit restrictions in bulk, directly from the results

  • Open up selected restricted pages to the whole space audience - removing all view or edit restrictions in one action

  • Presents results in a page tree structure, making it easier to understand permission inheritance and page hierarchy

 1.2 When to use it

Onboarding

Grant a new team member access to all relevant pages in one action

Offboarding

Remove a departing user's edit access across the whole space quickly

Access audit

See at a glance which pages exclude a specific user or group

Restriction cleanup

Find pages with unexpected restrictions and resolve them

Opening restricted content

Remove all restrictions from selected pages at once, making them visible to everyone with space access

 1.3 How it works

Permission Explorer & Manager runs inside Confluence as a Forge space app. It uses the Confluence REST API to read page restrictions and - if you have space admin rights - write changes back. All data stays within your Confluence Cloud instance.

Permission Explorer & Manager only manages page-level restrictions. Space-level permissions (e.g. who can view or edit the entire space) are managed in Space settings → Space access → Users/Teams and groups.
