1. Overview

Label Manager for Confluence is a Forge-based Confluence Cloud app that helps teams add, replace, and remove labels across multiple content items and attachments without updating them individually.

By combining page and attachment label management in one workflow, the app reduces repetitive tasks and helps maintain a cleaner, more consistent Confluence workspace.

1.1 What it does

When you open Label Manager for Confluence from the page toolbar's More actions menu, you can:

  • Add one or more labels to multiple selected content items in a single operation.

  • Replace outdated, inconsistent, or incorrectly named labels with new ones.

  • Remove unnecessary labels from selected content in bulk.

  • Apply an operation to the current content and its child content, or select individual items from the content hierarchy.

  • Select a page and manage labels across multiple attachments on that page.

  • Review the operation type, selected items, and target labels before applying changes.

  • Track the outcome through a completion summary showing processed, successful, skipped, and failed items.

  • Use the same guided workflow for both content labels and attachment labels.

 1.2 When to use it

Label cleanup

Remove outdated, duplicated, temporary, or unnecessary labels across multiple items at once.

Naming standardization

Replace inconsistent label variations with a clear and unified naming convention.

Content reorganization

Update labels when teams, projects, categories, or content structures change.

Space migration

Refresh or standardize labels before or after moving content between spaces.

Content governance

Keep page and attachment labels aligned with internal classification and naming standards.

Attachment organization

Classify files, update lifecycle labels, and clean up legacy attachment labels without file-by-file work.

 1.3 How it works

Label Manager for Confluence runs inside Confluence as an Atlassian Forge app. It uses Confluence APIs to retrieve the content, attachments, and labels available within the selected space and applies label changes only to the items included in the operation.

Label Manager for Confluence modifies only content and attachments within the app's and user's access. Page restrictions override space permissions.
